Department of Education Required Licensure Disclosure Information - Nutrition and Dietetics, MSc

Graduates of the UCCS Master of Sciences in Nutrition and Dietetics (Future Education Model Graduate Program) who successfully complete all degree and supervised experiential learning requirements are eligible to apply to take the Registration Examination for Dietitians and pursue the Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential.

In addition to earning the RDN credential, many states require separate state licensure or certification in order to practice. Licensure requirements vary by state and are subject to change. Students are strongly encouraged to review the licensure requirements for the state in which they intend to practice prior to enrollment and periodically throughout the program.

Colorado does not currently require state licensure for dietitians or nutritionists. However, graduates who plan to practice in another state must meet that state’s specific licensure or certification requirements.

Successful completion of the UCCS program does not guarantee state licensure. State licensure is required for practice in states that regulate the profession.
