
Student Research Travel Award
About
Johnson Beth-El (JBE) is committed to supporting student engagement in scholarly activities that promote academic and professional development. The Student Research Travel Award provides financial support to students who have been invited to present their research at a professional conference or scholarly meeting. Funding is subject to availability.
Award
This award offers up to $500 to assist with travel-related expenses to domestic and foreign conferences (including virtual) at which the student is scheduled to present. These funds must be used to reimburse for allowable conference-related expenses. For further information on allowable travel expenses, please visit the Procurement Service Center’s procedural statement on travel here. Receipts must be submitted for reimbursement.
Eligibility
To be considered for the award, students must:
- Be currently enrolled in a degree-seeking program (undergraduate or graduate) within the UCCS College of Nursing and Health Sciences.
- Students who received their presentation notice while still a student, but the conference date occurs after their graduation are eligible.
- Be in good academic standing.
- Have received official notification of research acceptance for presentation (oral or poster) at a professional conference.
- Be listed as one of the investigators on the abstract/presentation; however, the student does not need to be the presenting author
Application
Applications must be submitted and accepted PRIOR to any travel to receive funds. Applications will be reviewed within five working days upon receipt. Students must show email proof of presentation acceptance.
Award Conditions & Fund Distribution
- Students may only receive this award once per fiscal year.
- Following the presentation (and all related expenses), students must work with their faculty advisor to submit an electronic expense report for reimbursement within 30 days of returning.
- Award funds will be disbursed as a reimbursement after travel is complete, and documentation is submitted.
*There are limited funds designated for this award annually. Once the funds are depleted each year no further awards will be available until the next fiscal year.
