About the Accelerated BSN Program

Baccalaureate education provides entry-level preparation for professional nursing practice. This 16-month nursing program is designed for individuals who hold a Bachelor's degree in another field and wish to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN).

All required general education courses and the previous baccalaureate degree MUST be completed by the end of the fall semester of the current application period.

Eligibility/Application Requirements:

  • General Education Courses and Baccalaureate degree:
    The Accelerated BSN Option is a second-degree program. All general education courses, prerequisite courses and the baccalaureate degree must be completed successfully by December 31 of the current application period. Students may request an unofficial transcript review by sending an email to Linda Goodwin at lgoodwin@uccs.edu or accbsn@uccs.edu
     
  • GPA:
    The cumulative GPA must be at least 2.5 to be considered for the Accelerated Option. The GPA calculation will include all previous college coursework from all institutions of higher learning, including study abroad, and courses taken at UCCS.
     
  • Applications:
    Submit online a Transfer Student Application, Supplemental Application, Accelerated Nursing Program Prerequisite Worksheet, and the Application Fee. Currently enrolled UCCS students, please contact the nursing advisor regarding the application form and fees. Official Transcripts are required from each institution attended, including study abroad, and AP College Board results. Physicians with medical degrees from other countries: Applicants must have their transcripts reviewed by Education Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates before applying to the program.
     
  • HESI A2 Pre-Admission Assessment Exam:
    Competitive scores are required to be considered for the Accelerated Option. Exam scores will be sent automatically to the College. Physics is not included in this exam. Follow the directions on the Accelerated webpage to register for the exam.
     
  • Certified Background Check:
    A current background check must be completed according to the guidelines specified on the Accelerated webpage using the appropriate
    code. The results will be sent automatically to the College.
