About the Health Care Sciences - Medical Laboratory Science Program

The Medical Laboratory Science degree program is a four-year program where students receive a Bachelor of Science in Health Care Science and can apply to a post-baccalaureate medical laboratory science program to become medical laboratory scientists.

UCCS has a partnership with the Colorado Center for Medical Laboratory Science that supports up to 12 UCCS graduates to complete their post-baccalaureate professional certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist.

Focus of Study

The Health Care Science - Medical Laboratory Science degree program prepares students with the foundational and prerequisite coursework to be competitive applicants when applying to post-baccalaureate Medical Laboratory Science programs.

In addition to the required science coursework, students complete core courses in Health Sciences that provide them the knowledge to develop competencies in professional health communication and cultural humility that supports students to be prepared to work effectively in dynamic and inter-professional healthcare settings.
