About the Health Sciences Department

The Department of Health Sciences is focused on helping individuals, families, and communities optimize their health and wellness. Our programs focus on providing individuals and organizations with the knowledge and resources they need to engage in healthy lifestyles, as well as preventing, diagnosing, and rehabilitating injuries and illnesses.

Undergraduate Programs

Health Care Science, BS
Baccalaureate education provides entry-level preparation for the healthcare science profession.

Health Care Science, BS - Allied Health Completion
This program is designed for Allied Health practitioners who have completed a certificate program or Associate's Degree in an allied health care profession and desire a Bachelor's degree.

Health Care Science, BS - Health & Wellness Promotion
This program prepares students for professional practice in health-related settings.

Health Care Science, BS - Medical Laboratory Science
This program will prepare students for certification as medical laboratory technicians.


Graduate Programs

Health Promotion, MS
This program is designed for individuals interested in leadership roles in designing, implementing, and evaluating health promotion programs.


Athletic Training, MSAT
This program guides students from basic skills and knowledge acquisition towards becoming independent athletic trainers.


Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT)
The DPT Hybrid program is a joint degree with the CU Anschutz Medical Campus. The program shares the same coursework and has the same graduation requirements as the Residential DPT Pathway on the Anschutz Medical Campus. Utilizing resources and talent from both campuses, we have combined our world-class physical therapy education with innovative teaching practices and practical experiences. The CU DPT Program is enrolling students now  for it's inaugural hybrid cohort in the Summer of 2024.


Program Minors

Health & Wellness Promotion
Students can choose from a variety of health promotion courses that focus on improving health and wellness behaviors and addressing health challenges among individuals and groups of all ages and diverse backgrounds including children and adolescents, adults, veterans, athletes, families, older adults, and individuals with chronic illness and/or disability.

Sport Coaching
An introduction to the functions and tasks of coaching professionals in all levels of the sport industry.
