About the Health Care Sciences - Nursing Intent
What is Nursing Intent? Applicants who do not meet the criteria for admission to Nursing Prep are admitted to Nursing Intent. Nursing Intent students must complete HPNU 1010, Human Biology, with a grade of “B” or higher before taking HPNU 3050 and 3060. This is a 4 ½ to 5-year degree plan designed to support the achievement of a strong GPA for application to clinicals.
What is the Health and Wellness Promotion Pathway? This guide provides a suggested pathway for Nursing Intent students who decide not to apply or are not accepted to the Nursing major. Students can transfer their Nursing intent credits to the Health and Wellness Promotion option which will give them 2 years credits towards BS Health Care Science degree program. With an additional Health Science courses students can stay on track and graduate with a BS degree in a total of 4 years.
Focus of Study
The Nursing Intent focus of study prepares students for future application to a nursing program through a structured pathway that builds a strong academic foundation in health and science. This pathway is designed for students who are exploring nursing as a career but may not initially meet direct entry requirements.
Students will complete foundational coursework in human biology, health sciences, and general education, with the goal of becoming competitive applicants for clinical nursing programs.
