About the Health Care Science Degree - Allied Health Completion Program
This upper division degree completion option is designed for Allied Health practitioners who have completed a certificate program or Associate's Degree in an allied health profession and desire a Bachelor's degree for career advancement.
Students who enter and successfully complete this degree will graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Health Care Science with an option in Allied Health Completion.
Focus of Study
This upper division completion option is available for students who have completed training in allied health areas such as radiation technology, dental hygiene, medical technician, paramedic, respiratory therapy, etc.
Program Requirements
To be accepted in this program students must have completed a certificate in an allied health area from an accredited program other than UCCS that included at least 40 training credit hours in order to complete the portfolio requirement of this option.
In many cases, the training credit hours may be in conjunction with an associate's degree. Students must submit the following allied health portfolio components to the Department of Health Sciences and have their allied health portfolio approved by the Department of Health Sciences before they can declare this option:
- Transcripts from an accredited institution or program documenting at least 40 credits of training during the program
- A current resume
- A copy of the student’s current certificate, registration or license to practice in their allied health field
- Students then complete the health science program listed below in order to be awarded a bachelor’s degree, the BS in Health Care Science.
How to Apply
- Complete the Online Transfer Student Application form
- Prepare and submit your portfolio for evaluation to the Health Sciences Department Chair
- Portfolio must contain
- A copy of the transcripts documenting 40 training credits
- A copy of the student's license, certification, or registration to practice in their Allied Health field
- A current resumé
- Follow the instructions for completing the form and ensure that all required documents are delivered by the deadline dates published in the Schedule of Courses.
