Led by Advanced nursing instructor Deborah Tuffield, MSN RN on August 30th 2013, students were able to participate in a new and unique situation outside of a hospital setting. Palliative Care nurse Sally Sharp and Chaplain Nathan Mesnikoff provided resources for students to personally and professionally manage a patient death.

"Students were surprised by the emotions they were feeling in a simulated wake. Aspects of the death and dying process are stressful and can be difficult to cope with in the long run. Our students really appreciated the opportunity to go through this process and getting to speak with others about nursing burnout along with the death and dying process."
