Focus of Study
The Bachelor of Science in Health Care Science prepares the graduate for professional practice in health-related settings. The program includes a foundation in general education as well as a broad understanding of healthcare delivery systems.
Options within the program to develop an advanced specialization in a specific or chosen discipline include Allied Health Completion, Health and Wellness Promotion, and Medical Laboratory Science.
After completing the programs, students will:
- Demonstrate the knowledge necessary to function in their health sciences area
- Demonstrate the ability to assess, plan, and implement interventions in their chosen discipline
- Demonstrate the ability to incorporate research and theory in health sciences practice
- Recognize improvements in written and oral communication
- Find their degree program/course of study to be of high quality and useful
Program Requirements
Admission Criteria for Students Applying as Freshmen
- GPA of 2.0 or better
- Composite score of 18 on the ACT or a total score of 840 (prior to March 2016) or 920 (after March 2016) on the SAT (92 index)
Freshmen applicants whose records vary in any way from the above admissions criteria will be considered on an individual basis by evaluation of their overall academic records including:
(a) The quality of their high school program of study
(b) The level of their college entrance test scores (SAT or ACT)
(c) Any information unique to an individual situation
