  • Eligibility/Application Requirements

    First-Year Courses: All first-year courses must be completed successfully by end of the semester of application. Successful completion requires a C- or better for general education courses and a C or better in Nutrition for Health Care Professionals, (HPNU 2050), Statistics for Nurses (NURS 2060), and Anatomy and Physiology I & II (HPNU 2010 and HPNU 2020).

    Minimum GPA: The cumulative GPA must be 3.0 or higher at the end of the Spring semester of application. GPA calculation will include all previous college coursework and courses taken at UCCS. The student’s GPA will be updated at the end of the semester to include that semester’s grades for the purpose of reviewing applicants for admission to clinicals. IMPORTANT: If a student’s cumulative GPA is less than 3.0 after the final semester update, he/she will not be considered for admission to the Nursing major, even if the entrance exam has been taken and passed.

    GPA: The cumulative GPA must be at least 2.5 to be considered for the Accelerated Option. The GPA calculation will include all previous college coursework from all institutions of higher learning, including study abroad, and courses taken at UCCS.

    A bachelor's degree from an ACEN or CCNE accredited institution with an upper-division major in nursing

    NOTE: The DNP admissions standards differ from the UCCS Graduate School admissions in that the NP/CNS National Certification and RN license are required as well. Prerequisite graduate courses in nursing theory, research and policy are indicated only if the MSN programs were in deficit of this core courses.

    This course is available to those who fluently speak both English and Spanish (bilingual).

    Applicants must have a 3.0 minimum GPA at time of admission.  The minimum 3.0 GPA must be maintained at completion of all pre-requisite courses and completion of bachelor’s degree. Courses must be completed with a C- or better at the time of application OR enrolled in at the time of admission. Courses in progress during the semester of application must also be completed with a C- or better to complete the admission process. Course syllabi for courses not taken at UCCS may be required for review and approval as meeting the pre-requisites. Pre-requisites taken greater than 10 years prior to application may not be considered.*

    Admission Requirements

    • Priority Application: All materials received by January 20.
    • Final Admission Deadline: All materials received by April 15th.

    Admission to the program is competitive based on controlled enrollment. Applicants meeting the priority enrollment deadline will be given preference for available seats in the program. Remaining applicants meeting the final admission deadline will be awarded admission based on the availability of seats.

  • Admission Requirements

    To be eligible to be considered for admittance to the UCCS ISPP Program the applicant must meet the following requirements:

    1. Have a Verification Statement from the ACEND-accredited UCCS Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD).
    2. Have applied to Dietetic Internship (DI) programs through the D & D match process and been unmatched to a DI. A copy of the original DICAS application in pdf format including resume, personal statement, and a list of programs applied to during the D & D match process must be submitted as part of the application process.
    3. Minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.8 on a 4.0 scale.
    4. Good written and verbal communication skills in English; a Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score of 550 or better (International students only).
    5. Demonstrated ability (as evidenced by the letters of recommendations and personal letter) to work effectively as a member of a team, as well as team leader.
    6. Demonstrated ability (as evidenced by the letters of recommendations and personal letter) to be a self-directed and independent learner.
    7. Demonstrated ability (as evidenced by the letters of recommendations and personal letter) to be flexible and enthusiastic.
    8. Work and/or volunteer experience related to health care, community and/or food service highly desirable.
    9. Proof of immunizations required by supervised practice sites must be provided prior to starting rotations and updated as necessary.
    10. Interns must locate their own supervised practice sites and preceptors. The sites can be local, remote, or a combination of local and remote. Proof that all potential rotations and placements for the program have been secured. A list of required paperwork will be provided with the application materials.
    11. Interns are required to attend a mandatory orientation in July before starting the program.
  • Admission Requirements:

    HSCIThe DPD program requires students to have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8 on a 4.0 scale to begin the 3-semester DPD Sequence. The cumulative GPA includes the CU GPA and transfer credit GPA. In addition, all prerequisite requirements must be fulfilled to start the 3-semester DPD sequence, generally the last 3 semesters of the degree program. If this includes transfer courses, official transcripts from the other institutions must be sent to UCCS before the start of the 3-semester DPD Sequence.

Remaining applicants meeting the final admission deadline will be awarded admission based on availability of seats.  In addition to these minimums, our competitive applicants have a health-related undergraduate degree, usually have their CSCS or are taking the exam prior to starting the program, have good references from strength and conditioning coaches, completed hands-on experiences in strength and conditioning or personal training, and good academic references that can speak to their potential to be successful in a graduate program.
